Naya Miley Mudpuppy

Barn Name: Naya

Reference: The British Aristocracy

Please, do try to contain your excitement. Her Ladyship has arrived.

Naya is our seven-year-old Percheron/Thoroughbred mare, standing at an impressive 16.2 hands and, naturally, still growing. Because apparently being enormous wasn't quite enough. She is the daughter of registered Percheron stallion Windermere’s Silva and registered Thoroughbred mare Pegasus Breeze, and she has inherited the very best qualities of both: athleticism, presence, and an entirely justified belief that she deserves everyone's attention.

Naya was bred and raised for sport at T.H.A.N.K.S.-A-LOT Farm in Augusta, West Virginia, where she developed an impressive resume before coming to us. She has fox hunted in the second and third fields, evented at starter trials at the elementary level, and competed in the hunters, including schooling fences up to three feet. She is now continuing her illustrious career with us, training in dressage and eventing.

She is equally accomplished at being adored.

Naya is quite possibly the first horse to greet you when you enter the field, and frankly, it would be terribly rude not to acknowledge her. She is affectionate, cuddly, playful, and possessed of a particularly entertaining personality. If there is a human within sight, Naya considers it her personal responsibility to make sure they are paying attention to her. If they are not, she will simply come closer until they do.

One must understand that Naya is not merely friendly. She is socially important.

She is also remarkably brave and thoughtful when confronted with something new. Should something appear frightening or suspicious, Naya will pause, take a moment to consider the situation, blow a most dignified breath through her nose, and then proceed to investigate. After all, one cannot simply panic when there is important information to be gathered.

This combination of confidence, curiosity, and good sense makes her wonderfully cooperative and responsive to her riders. She is always thinking, always learning, and always ready to have an opinion about whatever is happening around her.

Within the herd, Naya has naturally assumed an important social position, although the others have yet to receive the formal memorandum informing them. As any respectable member of high society knows, one's social circle is of the utmost importance. Naya is therefore particularly pleased to spend her days mingling with the Big Bays—some of the most distinguished and influential members of the herd. These are horses of the highest levels of society, and Naya has made it quite clear that she belongs among them. She moves effortlessly through their circles, attending to the important business of field politics, social engagements, and ensuring that everyone remains aware of her presence. She has also developed a special friendship with Hera, our 10.3-hand miniature mare. The pairing is rather extraordinary: Hera may be the Queen of Olympus, but Naya appears to have appointed herself Prime Minister of the Entire Property.

At the end of the day, Naya is exactly what one hopes for in a sport horse: brave, athletic, willing, intelligent, and endlessly entertaining. She has the talent to take on whatever we ask of her, paired with the sort of personality that makes it impossible not to fall completely in love with her.

She is still young, still growing, and still very much developing into the remarkable mare she will become.

We fully expect great things from her.

Though, to be perfectly honest, Naya already expects great things from all of us.

And really, who are we to disappoint Her Ladyship?
