Winter 2026 Saddle Club

Welcome to the Wrenacyn Saddle Club! This handbook will guide parents and riders through club participation, barn expectations, learning opportunities, and optional equipment.

Overview

The Winter 2026 Show season will be held from February 5th to March 26th. Weekly hour long meets will be offered with an emphasis on teamwork and horsemanship. 

Objectives

  • Teach responsibility, accountability, teamwork, independence, cause and effect, and confidence

  • Encourage healthy interpersonal relationships, holding boundaries, and uplifting peers

  • Provide a safe space where young riders feel safe, heard, respected, and appreciated

  • Place an emphasis on the importance of good horsemanship and a comprehensive understanding of horse behavior

  • Bring young riders up to their full potential under saddle and on the ground.

Club Structure

  • Club times will be split between 4pm and 5pm on Thursdays

  • Lessons will take place once a week, focusing on building both under saddle and ground skills geared towards essential horsemanship 

  • Eligible riders will be provided the opportunity to compete in in house shows and clinics for an additional cost. 

Rider Responsibilities

  • Arrive to all events in a timely manner with the appropriate attire 

  • Clean all borrowed equipment, including but not limited to saddles, bridles, girths, and saddle pads and return to designated spaces

  • Take responsibility for any task, horse or equipment assigned

  • Follow direction of Wrenacyn Staff

  • Encourage and support teammates

  • Demonstrate respect for all staff, teammates, horses, competitors and officials

Parental Responsibilities

  • Ensure your rider arrives on time, dressed appropriately

  • Stay supportive and positive—focus on progress

  • Read all communication and stay updated

  • Attend all shows and clinics to supervise your rider

  • Create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all Wrenacyn families

  • Encourage good sportsmanship and support healthy friendships and relationships within the club

  • Demonstrate respect for all staff, peers, horses, competitors and officials

The club will meet once a week, final groups will be available January 1st. Expect a mix of under saddle instruction, as well as on the ground horsemanship skills. Each lesson will be an hour long, and riders will be expected to show up at the time of the lesson, or a maximum of 5 minutes early.

Shirt Covering Shoulders and Midriff 

Full Length Leggings or Pants

Close Toed Shoes - Sneakers, Rain Boots, NO CROCS

Water Bottle

Optional:

ASTM Certified Helmet

Riding Leggings/Breeches

Boots with Heel, minimum ½”

FAQ — General Club Questions

Q: How many lessons are there per season?

A: Plan on attending 8 lessons in the Winter Saddle Club Season.

Q: Does my rider need to own a helmet, boots, riding pants, etc?

A: No, Wrenacyn will provide helmets and boots for riders that do not have their own, but riders who do have their own equipment are welcome to bring it.

Q: How are horses and classes assigned?
A: Instructors place riders and horses based on safety, horse compatibility, rider level, and horse availability.

Q: How many shows can riders participate in?
A: Riders may attend the Wrenacyn In House Shows on Feb. 21st and March 21st

Q: Are riders required to attend both clinics and shows?
A: No. These events are optional at an extra cost.

- Friendly, low-pressure competitions held at Wrenacyn
- Divisions available for beginner through advanced
- Judges focus on progress & correct riding skills
- Teamwork and cheering strongly encouraged!

The code of conduct reflects the Club’s objectives and Wrenacyn’s policies and mission. Any deviation from the code of conduct may result in disciplinary action and/or dismissal from the program without refund.

Fees and Payment Policies

  • Members will receive a weekly club lesson at $240/season 

  • Members are responsible for any additional lesson fees and any additional costs associated with participation

  • Failure to comply with payment policies may result in suspension from club activities
