Barn Name: Wolfie

Meet Wolfie, our 14.2-hand Arabian gelding, retired hunter, seasoned babysitter, professional lookout, and lifelong heart-stealer. Born in 1997, Wolfie is by BL Majestic Gold+/AHR*116831, out of Chiria AHR*480325, and has spent nearly three decades proving that you can’t keep a good wolf down.

Compact, flashy, and blessed with enough style to know it, Wolfie was born to turn heads. With his elegant movement and unmistakable Arabian presence, he truly came alive in the hunter ring. He may have been small in stature, but he certainly wasn’t short on charisma. Wherever Wolfie went, he had a way of making an entrance.

Originally purchased from a dressage lesson barn, Wolfie arrived with a résumé already packed with schooling and trail miles. He was educated, sensible, and versatile, but his greatest talent may have been his ability to take care of his people. Over the years, Wolfie taught countless children how to ride, patiently carrying little beginners through the wobbly stages and quietly keeping an eye on them when they needed it most. For generations of young riders, he was the horse who made them feel brave.

Now happily retired, Wolfie has traded his show pads for a life of leisurely grazing, sunny naps, supervising the neighborhood, and enjoying the simple pleasures of being a horse. He has also acquired a new sidekick: Oz, a five-year-old Arabian with considerably more energy than an old gentleman really needs in his retirement. Oz keeps Wolfie young, while Wolfie brings the wisdom and calm of an old pro to their friendship.

Despite being the lowest-ranking member of the herd, Wolfie has appointed himself Chief Security Officer. He is the official lookout and scout, quietly keeping a watchful eye on his friends and making sure everyone is accounted for. Nothing much escapes his notice—but he approaches his duties with the same calm, steady nature that has made him such a trusted companion throughout his life.

And while he may no longer be hungry like the wolf for blue ribbons, Wolfie remains hungry for life. He still loves being part of the action, still enjoys the company of his friends, and still has that wonderful spark that makes an old horse so special.

Wolfie is the kind of horse who doesn't need to be the boss to be important. He doesn't need to demand attention to receive it. He simply goes about his days being his kind, steady, easygoing self—and somehow, everyone feels a little better when he's nearby.

After a lifetime of showing, teaching, exploring, and taking care of his people, this old Arabian has more than earned his retirement. These days, his greatest accomplishments are keeping Oz company, watching over the herd, soaking up the sunshine, and reminding everyone that life is best enjoyed at a leisurely pace.

He may be retired from the ring, but this good-natured old wolf still has plenty of moonlight, memories, and a little howl left in him. After all, when you've spent a lifetime being this fabulous, you don't fade quietly into retirement.

You howl at the moon.
