Some horses are diamonds. Some are gold. And then there is Pearl; proof that sometimes the most precious things come in a much smaller package.

Pearl is our 23-year-old Arabian/Welsh pony cross and resident Pocket Rocket. Pearl has that rare combination of experience, confidence, and plenty of speed to make her an absolute favorite with students moving up through the levels. She may not be the biggest horse in the barn, but she has a very big personality and approximately seventeen times more horsepower than you would expect from those little rocket-pony legs.

Pearl is also jokingly known around the farm as Wolfie’s smaller look-alike. Similar coloring, similar expression, similar general air of “Yes, I know exactly what I am doing.” The main difference is that Pearl comes in a conveniently travel-sized package.

Under saddle, Pearl is all about possibility. She has the confidence and athleticism to take her riders to the next level, whether that means calmly stepping over a fence, boldly attacking a course, or reminding everyone that age is really just a number when you have rocket fuel in your legs.

She is currently eventing at the Beginner Novice level. Pearl approaches jumping with an impressive range of enthusiasm. She can jump from a complete stop if necessaryor, given the opportunity, she will happily launch herself toward a fence at full speed using every ounce of horsepower her compact little body can produce. Sometimes there is apparently middle setting.

Underneath the Pocket Rocket is a truly special mare. Pearl is sweet, kind, experienced, and deeply willing. She has a way of giving her riders confidence while still challenging them to keep learning, making her an especially wonderful partner for students who are discovering just how much they are capable of.

Pearl originally came to us as a care lease, but it did not take long for the arrangement to become permanent. We fell completely in love with her. At 23, Pearl is a wonderful reminder that there is always more to discover, more to learn, and more possibilities waiting just around the corner. She may be a little smaller, a little older, and occasionally powered by what appears to be pure rocket fuel, but she has a heart, confidence, and spirit that are anything but small.

She is our Pearl: rare, precious, and full of possibility. ✨
