RIU and 4H: Intro to Horses Community Day

Curious about horses and barn life but not ready to commit just yet? Our Intro to Horses Community Day is a welcoming, hands-on introduction to barn life — designed especially for youth and families with little or no prior horse experience or those who not ready to commit to a full horse project!
This relaxed, engaging day offers the perfect chance to meet our horses, explore the barn, and experience what it's like to spend time caring for and learning alongside horses.

Event Details 

When: Saturday, March 28, 2025 from 10am till 2pm

Who: Youth and families with little to no horse experience and their families

Where: Wrenacyn, 16039 Partnership Rd., Poolesville, MD

Experience level: No prior horse experience needed

Participants will enjoy a guided introduction to horses and barn-life without any long-term commitment. Participants will:

  • Meet and interact with our horses

  • Learn grooming, basic care, and safety around horses

  • Create a horse-related craft to take home

  • Enjoy horse and riding opportunities in a supported, beginner-friendly setting
